Bayar RM2 makan apa sahaja

RM54,000 marriage proposal??!

wat? clazy aa? or lomantic? or new trend? or ???! PETALING JAYA: For this Valentine's Day, businesswoman Kelly Tan E Li got an unexpected marriage proposal. It was "wrapped" in a RM14,000 diamond ring and a huge billboard advertisement in which her boyfriend publicly declared his intentions. "This is the biggest surprise of my life. And, the whole thing started as a very normal Wednesday. We went out for dinner and my boyfriend David Tan insisted on sending me home. "The date ended very late, close to midnight. We got talking in the car and as we drove along the LDP in Kelana Jaya, he got excited and asked me to look at an "interesting" billboard by the side of the road," said Kelly, 24. As David was working in an advertising firm, Kelly assumed he wanted to show her some fancy new advertisements. "I looked and was stunned. David's picture was on the board! And beside his picture, were the magic words 'Kelly Tan E Li, will you marry me?' "I was so shocked and could not speak for about 10 minutes. He finally smiled when I told him 'yes'," said Kelly. And the RM40,000 billboard was not the only surprise. Immediately after Kelly said yes, David pulled out a box and inside, was a sparkling diamond ring. "I cannot ask for a more memorable Valentine's Day. I really want to thank David for this unique proposal," said Kelly, a nail salon owner in Bangsar. David, 26, said he had planned this surprise for some time. He only wanted the best for Kelly. The accounts executive said he deliberately proposed on Valentine's Day so that they could remember this day with fondness in the future. "I work in an advertising company and am always thinking out of the box to come up with new concepts and ideas. I wanted my marriage proposal to be unique," said David. He added that luck was definitely on his side for him to be able to book one of the billboards along the LDP, which were highly in demand. "The fact that I managed to book one especially on Valentine's Day is so lucky. Hopefully, our marriage will be equally amazing," said David. The couple met at a friend's house during Chinese New Year three years ago and started dating six months later. David has already started planning for the wedding. "It should be held sometime at the end of this year or early next year. "I cannot wait to marry Kelly. She is an amazing woman and she deserves all the attention I shower on her," he said.

Please read, evaluate and think about this. Do spread the news if required. 1) link for the news - [click here] 2) excerpt from the web (those who don't have internet facilitites) Catholic paper files writ of summons PETALING JAYA: The publisher of Herald - The Catholic Weekly has filed a writ of summons and a statement of claim in the Kuala Lumpur High Court to seek appropriate declarations of the use of the word "Allah". The publisher said in a statement released Thursday that the Internal Security Ministry had issued a series of directives to the publisher to cease the use of the word "Allah" in the weekly. The publisher also said that if they failed to do so, the publication’s permit would either be suspended or revoked. “We have decided to have our legal position to use the word determined by the courts,” the statement said. The weekly’s editor Reverend Father Lawrence Andrew said that the writ was filed on Dec 5. The 13-year-old paper, which carries reports about the Catholic community in English, Malay, Tamil and Chinese, has a circulation of 12,000 for its members.

Let's learn about Malaysian growth

Taken from Screenshots by blogger Jeff Ooi: Your per capita income up 40%, now at RM22,345? 5:37pm, February 9. I immediately connected with Tony Pua, DAP Sec-Gen's Economic Advisor, moments after the Star SMS Alert reached me. Bank Negara's rogue forex speculator, now Second Finance Minister, Nor Mohamed Yakcop was quoted as saying in Penang that Malaysia's per capita income rose by 40% in 2007 compared with 2004. He said that per capita income was now RM22,345 compared with RM15,819 previously. In other words, Nor Mohamed was implying that Malaysians from all walks of life are better off now than four years ago, when Abdullah took over from Mahathir. Tony has this response: Nor Mohamed Yakcop must either be completely out of his mind, or can no longer perform simple Mathematics or worse, attempting to insult the intelligence of ordinary Malaysians. Malaysia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 5.0%, 5.9% and an estimated 6.0% in 2005, 2006 and 2007 respectively according to the Government's official statistics. (Source available here) Based on the above growth rates over the past 3 years, Malaysia's GDP grew by approximately 17.9% from 2004 to 2007. Income or GDP per capita is calculated by dividing the GDP with the total population. Therefore, it is completely inconceivable that our per capita income increased by 40% when our GDP grew by only 17.9%. Unless of course, the honourable Minister believes that our population shrunk by some 16%! To achieve 40% growth, Malaysia must be growing in excess of 12% per annum. Hence, to grow by 40% over 3 years, with a population growing at just under 2% per annum, that will actually make Malaysia the fastest growing economy in Asia, outstripping even China and India. The Second Finance Minister should refrain from getting intoxicated by the general election fever, in the attempts to paint a heavenly picture of the Malaysian economy. He must instead make an official public apology for his outrageous claims. When Mr Maidin leaves, Nor Mohamed can claim the seat at MoI, quota or no quota.

Hang in there

Today I really feel like quitting my job. Quit, with everything on capital. After my supposedly mentor resigned leaving the bulk of everything under the sun to me, I tried picking up the pieces slowly and learning bit by bit along the way. Yeah, I have been warned that the superior has some loose screws in the thinking department but still I persevered. It's a part of the learning process, I told myself. Well, something happened these few days which made me look like a loser with capital L. I'm just tired OK, drained. Mentally cannot cope. Lantak kau la nak tonggang terbalik. Just say anything you want to say. I didn't ask to be given this task. I was forced to do it because my previous superior cannot work with me - a mere communications problem, really. I think I'm like this coz I haven't been doing any exercises for the past 2 weeks except for some core muscle exercises for the last 4 days. And it didn't help that LTDL highlights were shown late at night and I haven't missed any highlights since last saturday. My kids even had to stay up with me last night to watch the show. I normally tuck them in early to watch the highlights but yesterday they just couldn't sleep and I didn't want to miss the show, so gasaklah. Oh well, what's done is done.
Afi joins a swimming class now. Pls don't suggest triathlon. She hates to run :P
I told hubby that I'm getting the Cervelo frame using the birthday money that he gave me. He asked me, what are you getting yourself with the money? I told him, I don't know yet. I've always wanted the Chanel purse which costs about 1.5k but they don't have it in stock here. He said, since I gave you the money, how about buying the purse? I said, nah, maybe not coz it's not worth it. I've been cracking my brain on what to get. Ring? I have 2 already and it's more than enough. Pendant? I have that already and I don't think I need more of it. Bracelet? Probably, coz I don't have any, but because I commute sometimes, I don't feel comfortable wearing expensive gold bracelet and exposing it while holding the pole in LRTs. I might attract the wrong kind of attention. Plus gold is damn expensive now. Approximately RM100 per gram. I wanted to get another DSLR but my dear E500 is under-used ever since I've joined the cycling bandwagon. And the lens upgrades is just ridiculous. Hence, No to new DSLR.
vroomen Someday
So I'm left with my ultimate dream bike, the Soloist. God did hear my plea for Cervelo and Bike Boutique opened a branch in KL, carrying the brand. And as if He knows that I can't afford the carbon frames and so He visioned them to create alloy Soloist frame for me. The price is just unbelievable. Who would think that it's half the price of its carbon version? Alhamdulillah. I have a few interested parties for my Trek 1400 WSD Discovery Channel frame, size 43. Hopefully I can let it go by next week insya allah. Yeah God is great indeed. Never doubt that.
Any inquiries, pls leave a comment and an email. I'll get back to you :)
A few bloggers are doing Ironman Langkawi next week. A mere 9 days from now. I could just feel butterflies sommersaulting in my tummy at the thought of that. Of course they have been training like madmen for almost a year to face the Ironman challenge. Along the way, they've shed tears, blood and of course sweat, probably sunburnt numerous times already. In my opinion Ironman is more of a mental challenge rather than pure physical torture. During the 3.8km swim, one might give up halfway due to rough sea conditions but the tough ones will chant, "Just a wee bit more to go!" During the 180km cycle, one might think, "the route is MORE than a century ride(160km)". The tough ones will say, "180 is just a number.. it's just 60km a loop and you only have to do it 3 times". Lastly the marathon - 42km of running. The weaklings would think, "How can I run a marathon after cycling for 180km?" The finishers have only this in their minds, "I have trained this far, stop whining and let's just get this over with!" It's definitely mental torture I tell you. Brain overtaking the brawns. The distance are just numbers. Divided it into portions and conquer it bit by bit. May God give you strong muscles, sound mind and unbreakable mental strength. All the best to all Ironman participants!

Democracy

When people talk about politics, they talk about Democracy. It's like the 21st century creative invention in the same breath as invention of sliced bread. However I beg to differ. Hear me out first. Read Michael Moore book on democracy in USA called Fahrenheit 911 on how Bush Jr manipulated election database to his own benefit. There are more than meet the eye on US democracy. Algeria, Islamic party won an election years ago and France sent their army to overturned the decision. Turkey, another Islamic party won through election. However there were two socialist party which never meet eye to eye in Turkey history suddenly agreed to form a 'perikatan'. The first thing they did was to ban this new Islamic party. Let's look at our own issues of phantom voters, and latest the 'sempadan' created by SPR. What I would say it is ridiculous and scandalous. How can an area in Kelantan which has more 'rakyat' has one DUN area but given the same number of 'rakyat' in Johor, they are divided into two DUN area. If you are not aware Johor is the state is the stronghold for UMNO. Zimbabwe, another Prime Minister who are abusing his power to capture strong opposition candidates before election time. Some were released after election some are not lucky. Last but not least, our brothers and sisters in Palestine. They fought war and now they tried to do through election. They won lots of seats but these Israeli captured them and tortured them because they are representing Palestinian and do not tolerate with these arrogant creatures. Thoughts?

Why Numbers like : 1 is One & 2 is two.... interesting..!

Have you ever thought why........ 1 means "one", and 2 means "two"? The roman numerals are easy to understand but what was the logic behind the phonecian numbers? It's all about angles !
It's the number of angles. If one writes the numbers down (see below) on a piece of paper in their older forms, one quickly sees why.
I have marked the angles with "o"s.
No 1 has one angle.
No 2 has two angles.
No 3 has three angles.
etc.
and "O" has no angles
Interesting, isn't it?
An ancient phonecian manuscript explains this and I thought it to be fascinating.

Hadith for the day

From Anas, radiyallahu 'anhu, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, say:

"Allah the Almighty has said: 'O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me, and hope in Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds in the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I shall forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with an earthful of sins and were you then to face Me, without having associated anything with Me, I shall grant you an earthful of pardon.'"

[Recorded by Al-Tirmidhi, who said that it is a good and sound hadith]

Boycott newspapers, buy no lies'

Azreen Madzlan | Jan 28, 08 7:07pm Every Tuesday, lawyer-cum-blogger Haris Ibrahim will not buy newspapers. Neither will at least seven other individuals who have joined him in a boycott of Malaysia's print media. Haris, who runs The People's Parliament - a website advocating change on several fronts - launched the campaign today at a press conference in Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. Ironically, his intentions were announced before journalists covering the event, some of whom appeared offended by the campaign. Also present were members of the Hartal MSM (Boycott Mainstream Media) committee formed last December. They and a number of socio-political bloggers wore yellow T-shirts with the slogan 'Boycott the Newspapers, No Buy, No Lies'...read more here
