PESANAN DARI IMAM GHAZALI

TQ Adzimi for sharing

Learning to cheat

Published Date: June 17, 2009 By Ahmad Saeid, Staff Writer KUWAIT:
As the final exam season peaks in Kuwait's public and private schools, parents, students and teachers are crossing their fingers and hoping for the best. While some students are studying hard in order to win their ticket for next year, other students are relying on teachers to give them the answers. "We were allowed to cheat last year and the year before" says Abdulmajid, an eighth grade student in a Kuwaiti public school. "We got help from the teacher; he would read the question paper and give usthe answers to [the questions] - and that happened in all exams, except religion.
It's unclear how widespread teacher-encouraged cheating is in Kuwait's public schools, but a quick survey of students suggests that the practice is all too common. Education is the most important part of future planning for any society, since it lays the foundations for the next generation of doctors, school teachers, engineers, voters, MPs and minister who will rule the country when the current generation ages.Students from both public and private schools told the Kuwait Times about the ease with which they cheat and how teachers take part in the practice.
Walid, a ninth grade student in a private school said teachers allow students to cheat openly on exams. According to him, one of the teachers in the classroom where he was taking an English exam told the pupils in the last 15 minutes of the examination period, "'If anyone has any cheat sheets just do it fast!' after which they were allowed to cheat using theirown and other pupils' cheat sheets.Abdulrahman, another private school pupil, this time in fifth grade, said, "A teacher came in during the Arabic language exam and read the exam questions along with the answers." Abdulrahman said that this phenomenon is also widespread in science exams.
Haneen, a fifth grade public school pupil, said, "During the last three exams, a teacher sat next to me and helped me solving exam questions." Asked whether teachers gave the same assistance to other pupils, Haneen said, "Yes they helped them too, there were two teachers in the classroom helping all the students. These testimonies made us curious about the reason why teachers would behave in this way! I mean it's one thing not to give much effort to observing students during the exams, but to go out of your way to help them cheat intentionally is difficult to understand.
The Kuwait Times asked a teacher with over ten years' experience to explain this phenomenon, which was when we realized that this is only the tip of the iceberg. No one is evaluated by the level of education they deliver," said the schoolteacher, who asked to remain anonymous. "Kuwaiti teachers prefer holding exhibitions, workshops and model lessons for visiting observers because it's the easy way to receive excellency, which entitles teacher to an allowance, and the foreign teachers concentrate on private lessons that they give after school, and both groups don't care whether their students will understand.
Classes are not taken seriously, by teachers and students, it's really a difficult way to really teach students because they are difficult to handle, and even if you try to punish a student for bad behavior, you will be thinking about his parents; they always take the side of their kid, even if he or she is wrong, so everyone is just doing it the easy way.
The teacher added, "At the end of the year , every school tries to cover for itself, because they don't want pupils' falling marks to raise questions about the quality of education in their school. The veteran educator went on, "It's not uncommon for the school principal to ask the teachers marking the examination papers to add ten marks on the overall marks of all students, and they usually add them to the essays and questions that require long answers, so they won't be noticed at the first look.
Parents expressed unhappiness at this phenomenon.I don't want my kids to go to school to pass the year, I send them there to study and learn" says one surprised parent. Another told the Kuwait Times, "Yes they will pass, but who will let them cheat in their future?

SWEET MEMORY..... MERIAM BULUH

Cerita dulu-dulu dari Jigon..... Aku teringat time ni si Nizam (511) terseliuh kaki sebab sadung akar pokok kat blakang AB. Cikgu tanya pesal terseliuh, dia jawap jatuh tangga... baeeekk punya cover line...

Cerita pasal meriam buluh... aku pun tak tau sapa pnya idea. Karbaid.

So petang tu ,aku, Arman ngan Bob buat trial dulu .kami amik besi apa ntah Hamid Yaman punya kat stor sukan pastu pegi belakang sekali.kat tempat Cikgu Adris. pastu buat la trial kat situ. Buleh tahan pun. So petang tu kami usung la besi paip tu belakang AB kat bukit tu. Nak dijadikan cerita masa aku suruh Arman cucuh tu dia cepat sangat so api padam, so bila dia nak cucuh lagi sekali sure la meriam tu dah overload. Tu yg meletup macam bom tu. Bob plak lari jatuh longkang..kaki seliuh.

Tapi besok tu malam tu bebudak ni main mercun. Pastu mohzir mengamuk la. Dia nak nama org yg main mercun or dia nak denda semua...so sapalah hamba Allah ni bagi la nama aku sorang. pastu tidak lama kemudian aku pun kena masuk JDM.

Si Tajri marah gila. tapi masa tu mujurla Hamid Yaman ngan Adris tak marah sangat aku...eleh, biasa la tu. Anyway aku kena gantung 2 minggu. Seminggu masa cuti raya (inclusive) pastu seminggu lagi lepas tu. sekian.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"People choose what they want to see, hear, feel and the most important thing is, what the want to remember.....'

CERITA DI GAMBAR BAWAH

Pengetua nak yang pergi kursus tu jadi trainers kat tepen. So korang pun handle lah satu session kepimpinan kat kitorang yang berstatus rakyat jelata

WARREN BUFFET ADVICE 2009

SAND ROSES @ DESERT ROSES

Mak mertua aku balik dari middle east, dia bawak sand roses as gift. Bila aku tengok, memang rasa pelik macam mana 'bunga' ni dijadikan.

Sand roses ni ada macam-macam bentuk, kaler & unik, setiap satu roses ni bentuknya berlainan. Takde satu yang sama.

Aku kurang paham macam mana 'bunga' ni terjadi, tapi menggunakan search engine, aku jumpa pautan-pautan berikut. Tapi kalau nak cari sand roses ni kena masuk desert pakai 4x4. Kira macam kat sini kalau nak cari madu hutan yang bagus kena masuk 'deep in the forest'.

Red Bull gives you wings...

HONG KONG, June 2, 2009 (AFP) - Hong Kong officials have found traces of cocaine in cans of Red Bull, a few days after Taiwanese authorities confiscated close to 18,000 cases of the popular energy drink.
Officials at the Centre for Food Safety said a laboratory analysis found tiny amounts of the illegal drug in samples of 'Red Bull Cola,' 'Red Bull Sugar-free' and 'Red Bull Energy Drink', a spokesman said. The drink has now been taken off the shelves of major supermarkets, the spokesman said in a statement issued late Monday. He added that the amount of cocaine found in the drinks posed little health danger.
Red Bull moved quickly to deny the findings and said independent tests on the same batch of drinks had found no traces of cocaine. The Centre for Food Safety found traces of cocaine between 0.1 and 0.3 micrograms of the illegal drug per litre, the statement said. Initially, Hong Kong's commissioner for narcotics Sally Wong said the government was taking legal advice on any possible liability for importers and retailers.
However, after meeting Red Bull representatives Tuesday, the government issued a statement saying no prosecution was intended, because of 'the absence of prior knowledge of the cocaine content in the product. 'However, should they continue to deal in any products containing dangerous drugs in future, they might be liable to prosecution,' the statement said.
Commissioner for Narcotics Sally Wong said some retailers had taken contaminated batches of Red Bull off their shelves and advised those who had not done yet done so to follow suit. Before Tuesday's meeting, Red Bull's Asia Pacific marketing director, Daniel Beatty, said the firm strongly disputed the findings that cocaine had been found in its product. 'It would have been absolutely impossible for the Hong Kong or any other authorities to have found traces of cocaine in Red Bull Energy Drink,' he said in a statement. The Hong Kong government said tests on further samples of Red Bull Tuesday had not detected any cocaine.
The government had asked Red Bull for more samples 'in order to establish whether the existence of traces of cocaine in some samples is a systematic issue or whether it relates to any particular lot or serial number.' Taiwan officials said Saturday they had confiscated nearly 18,000 cases of Red Bull imported from Austria after finding it contained traces of the drug. Taiwanese authorities ordered the drinks to be removed from shelves pending further investigation.
Red Bull, whose advertising slogan is 'Red Bull gives you wings,' was founded by Austrian toothpaste salesman Dietrich Mateschitz in the 1980s. It has since become one of the dominant players in the global energy drinks market.
