It is surrounded by Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah and acts as an intermediator between the natural domains to the North and the Government and Commercial domains to the South and East. The park is among the best place to enjoy a panoramic view of Putrajaya." Went there yesterday to snap few quick photos.. My first TT (time trial)

Another event I completed last sunday.. alhamdulillah. Aini Woke up at 5am for the TT. Gedebuk gedebak semua, got out of the house at 6am. Stopped at the petrol station for fuel. From Semenyih town, there were 6 cars in front of us making the left turn at the traffic light, heading to Tekala waterfalls. We thought they must have been kaki beskal as well. Suddenly at the Nirvana Memorial park, ALL of them turned left! We looked at each other n smiled. Alamak. Diorang nak pegi kubur rupanya. It must be the time when they clean the graves, we thought. 10 mins later, we reached the car park. Saw Harry n wife.. Harry was one of the marshalls that day. Reported myself to Adrian, who greeted me with "So this is Bola Dua Api!" Not Bola Dua Api lah.. it's Bola Bola Api! Hehehe.. The goodies were commendable for a free registration race - t shirt, one Powerbar Triple Treat(which hubby gobbled down like Cadbury's Dairy Milk choccy bar) and 2 cans of drinks. I told hubby to take his goodies since he's already registered but he's embarassed to do so. Race started at about 7.35am. Mel and Adele from QR were the timekeepers. Mel came up to me saying, "When I saw your name in the list, I thought, it can't be you. But it turned out IT IS YOU!" Yes. I just joined the bandwagon n my bike still looked new due to little mileage on the bike. The smallest numbers started first(i.e. orang2 yang kayuh selow), n I was about the 10th person to start. I deliberately set my odometer to show only distance n my speed coz I didn't want to pressure myself. Janji habissss.. We were released every 1 minute. One km into the route, I was already feeling the brunt of not cycling for the last one month! We were greeted by a steady hill climb which lasted at least 1km! Gilak! At that moment, I looked at my odometer n I was going 8km per hr! Even on a bad day up the hills in Putrajaya, I could climb at 13km per hr! This was crazy man! Full article is here. Pics: The deadly route Warming up. Pagi2 buta dah ada kat situ.. kata nak start kul 7 pagi... With Mrs Harry Masa ni tengah suffer.. tapi nampak photographer, terus buat2 macho! :P

KLIM 10k race report

hehe.. sorry.. advertise diri sendiri kat sini :) Hopefully more runners will come from Taiping batch 9495! Aini MY FIRST 10 K - taken from here Can we fix it? YES WE CAN! I woke up for KLIM at 5am n determined to run my 10k event. A stiff neck has been plaguing me since wednesday. I'm not sure whether the swim or my lousy pillow was the cause of it. Had a bath n woke up hubby to send me. Got out of the hse at 5.40, stopped at 7-11 to buy Gatorade n Mars bar - post-run snack. Arrived at the carpark near lake gardens at 6.10am and walked to Dataran. Put my stuff at the designated area n started warming up. Stretched a bit, ran a bit. Then checked in near the starting line. A few minutes in the starting box, the announcer said, 4 runner from 42k were approaching the starting line. The marathon started at 4.30.. which meant that they finish less than 2:30 hrs! At 7 am, we were released from the starting line. There were so many ppl that I can only run properly 20 seconds later. Not far from the start was an easy slope n then was the roundabout near KTM. Right after the roundabout was a flyover! Man, I was reduced to a very very small stride(if I can even call it a stride) n many were already walking. NO WALKING was the order of the day, for me at least. Breathing was every 2 steps. Somehow, my heart rate gone haywire, probably due to the muscle relaxant pill that I took the night before. Muscle relaxant? What was I thinking??! The doc gave me the drug for my aching muscles but I think, it has an effect on my heart(heart is made up of muscles) n my guess was my heart was working extra hard to pump blood in my body. Why was I so clever to take the pill the night before???!! The rest of the run was a struggle for me. It was a juggling act, if I can call it that. My legs were OK, back didn't hurt, but my neck was the main problem. It was so bad that it actually caused a headache N just imagine having to run 10k with a splitting headache. Run too fast, my heart would be pounding too fast n my headache was so bad that I can only half-open my left eye. Dalam hati, This is the last run that I'm going to enter.. no more after this!(Hubby would be happy to hear this) Especially not when I am experiencing crazy headache n a stiff neck like this. At the first water station, I took a cup of water n splashed it to my face. Lega. A few times on the run, I drank Gatorade while running. I was already behind the pack n stopping for a drink will slow me down even more. One guy was taunting me about the bottle in my hand. I told him, just in case they don't provide any water, at least I know that I'd be OK. Hehehe(SMART tunnel run sounds familiar?) In front of Westin, I was beat already. Kept looking at the signboards.. Bila la nak sampai Dataran ni? In front of Sogo, I asked one guy, Do u know how far along is Dataran from here? He said, I think about 1, 2km away. I looked at my watch n said, it's late already(my watch was showing 1:08 and cut off was 1:30). He said, Just enjoy the run, janji habis! Yeah true. As long as you finish, u are already a winner in your own right. The longest long run that I've done was 80 minutes. About 500m to finish line, it was already 1:20! 500m more to go! I thought of sprinting but the headache was too much to handle, so I'd better stick to my pace. I was afraid that if I go any faster, I'd faint before reaching the finish line. 100m to finish line, I had to stifle my tears. I could see the finish line from where I was running. It was overwhelming, to think that I had a slip in the bathroom 10 days ago, running while nursing a stiff neck n sore shoulder muscles and a deadly headache. I managed to finish in 1:25. I survived, Alhamdulillah! Back home, I showed my medal to my family at the dinner table(my parents were around). Hubby didn't look too impressed(probably controlling his happiness for his wife HAHA I wish), but my dad was ecstatic. The gem of the day surprisingly came from my mom's mouth: "Ada la yg ikut jejak ayah macam ni.." My dad was active during his youth, in athletics n sports of almost all kinds. N he would always bring a medal or a cup home after his matches. There's a cupboard full of trophies n medals at home n a few of my medals n trophies in the cupboard too(from my netball n sprinting days). My dad was smiling from ear to ear during lunch. He kept on asking me, "U ran 10k? How long did it take u?" I told him, "Normally I could do it in 1:10 but I wasn't feeling too good today, so my timing was 1:25." Then he asked me, "What's the next running event after this?" Aik! Is he planning to run 10k too?? C'mon ayah! We can run together!

Malaysians pay price for free-spending

Something to think about.....

source: nstp online [click here for details]

18 Mar 2007 Patrick Sennyah
MORE Malaysians are being declared bankrupt. And 40 per cent of bankruptcies is the result of failure to repay personal or business loans and credit card abuse.

"Up to February, there were 2,265 cases. Last year, there were 13,590 cases," said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk M. Kayveas.

Based on a study conducted by Universiti Malaya, he said it was worrying that some of the credit card defaulters declared bankrupt were aged between 20 and 30.

After credit card and persoanl loan defaulters, housing and car loans defaulters made up 25 per cent of bankruptcies followed by guarantors (21 per cent) and the rest were defaulters of scholarships and stock exchange losses.

According to the National Insolvency Department, a cumulative total of 153,676 bankruptcy cases have been recorded with them.

The total debt of these outstanding payments amounted to more than RM300 billion. Credit card debts stood at RM20 billion.

"Some people have at least three credit cards with an accumulated spending limit of more than 15 times their earning capacity," said Kayeas.

The minimum debt to initiate a bankruptcy is RM30,000, following a revision to the Bankruptcy Act 1967 in October 2003.

Kayveas said a credit card holder would get into serious trouble when the card was used for cash advances.

"The problem is many do not realise the interest rate for cash advances is very high. Within months, this can snowball into a large amount."

He said the fact that a person could get a credit card or personal loan so easily these days was worrying.

"In earlier times, a person would have to earn at least RM24,000 per annum to qualify for a credit card.

"These days, someone earning RM1,000 a month can get a card."

Kayveas said this was worrying considering a fresh graduate earned about RM1,200 and could have three credit cards with a credit limit of RM20,000.

"Though those aged between 41-50 form the largest group of bankrupts, followed by the 31-40 group, it is unacceptable for someone under 30 to be declared a bankrupt."

He urged banks and financial institutions to be more stringent in extending credit.

"An increasing number of banks is publicising their personal loans and how easy it is to obtain one.

"Banks should be more meticulous in issuing these loans and credit cards considering that some people abuse these facilities."

There are nine million credit card holders nationwide.

A bankrupt will have his passport impounded by the Immigration Department and his bank account frozen.

Meanwhile, a senior bank official said it was up to a bank to issue a credit card or extend a personal loan.

"We have to check a person’s creditworthiness and then decide if he is eligible."

The bank officer did acknowledge that there was stiff competition among banks and some adopted relaxed rules in giving loans and credit cards.

Family members can then use the tree to learn more about each other, share knowledge about common ancestors and relatives, and stay in touch with each other. Selamat Mencuba
