ENCHANTED (the movie): A REVIEW

By Naz. I have the habit of checking for reviews in Yahoo movies before actually going to watch a film, since the thought of having to endure 2 hours of a dull movie on a good weekend is unbearable. Well, this is a season to be merry and Christmassy-type of films are always, more than often will produce good results. Enchanted has top-grossed in the US for few weeks now and the critics are good. In short, Giselle, a princess in the animated kingdom of Andalasia met Prince Edward, know they are destined to be united by "true love's kiss," but his evil step mother Queen Narissa, whose afraid of losing her throne with the marriage, pushed Giselle into a magic well down to, the modern day Manhattan. Thus the cartoon set up transformed to real life, with wonderful Amy Adams as Giselle, who runs into an unemotional divorce lawyer Robert ("Grey's Anatomy's" ultra dashing Patrick Dempsey), who so doesn't believe in magic. He and his daughter, tried to help Giselle to return to Andalasia and be reunited with her Prince Edward. Half of the film showed Giselle’s way of facing an unknown world to her, so different from the fairy wonderland she lives in, yet she doesn’t lose her sweetness and innocence, dancing and singing her way up to everbody’s heart, including us the audience. Oh she can even make a nice dress out of a curtain too. The movie climaxed when Prince Edward jumped into the well with his companion, Nathaniel (who is also Narissa’s secret henchman) and Giselle’s chipmunk (look out for a really funny scene when the chipmunk try to imitate Giselle’s being poisoned) and tries to look for Giselle, and later when he found her, the evil Queen Narissa had to step in a bid to destroy them. I will not reveal the ending, but you can guess, all Disney’s film has a good fairy tale ending. This movie is suitable for the whole family, the dads will laugh at the funny scenes, the mums will fret over Patrick Dempsey (God, I’ll pay to watch him everyday), the kids will love the animals and the singing and Giselle, well, Enchanted makes you believe even for a while, there is a knight in shining armour for everyone, and in Giselle’s case, Mc Dreamy (well now I’ve revealed the ending, he2). Go see it everyone, bring your kids, and single couples, bring your gf/bf/bffs he2.
