Lagi pelatih PLKN meninggal

KUANTAN 2 Sept. – Seorang pelatih Program Latihan Khidmat Negara (PLKN) dari Kem Cheneh Cemerlang, Kemaman dekat sini meninggal dunia malam tadi selepas muntah-muntah dan sakit kuning yang didakwa keluarganya berpunca daripada termakan makanan dicemari najis haiwan.
Mangsa, Mohd. Rafi Ameer, 18, yatim piatu, meninggal dunia dalam perjalanan untuk dipindahkan ke Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA) di sini kira-kira pukul 10.30 malam tadi setelah keadaannya semakin kritikal.

Selalu gak baca pasal problem ngan NS ni. Adik ipar aku kene NS utk session yg akan datang ni. Risau jugak coz he has bad asthma. Eventhough boleh dapat surat doctor, takut2 orang buli or kene gak buat latihan berat.
Personally aku rasa PLKN ni bring more problem rather than benefits to Malaysian. Not bcos it's not good programme but it's weak management from bottom up since day 1. New UiTM campus claimed loss millions cos the vandalism during PLKN first year in IPT. Not to mean anti-political but we could see who benefited most from PLKN starting from land aqcuisition, construction till mantenance & management. It's cost tax payer millions every year!
kalaulah ditakdirkan zaman kita abis form 5 dulu dah ada PLKN, adakah korang sukarela pergi PLKN?
Personally i can see the benefit of PLKN. I feel that its good in providing some experience to the youngsters on being independent and away from home. Furthermore it can also help in racial integration and closing the gaps which i feel is lacking considering our country is very multiracial. But of course for every good cause, there must be good management and planning, which is what is lacking. Wont you agree that a lot of good things ends up bad because of the lousy management + corruption thats happening behind the scene? Someone has to benefit financially from every action like it or not, you cant expect it to be free i.e. acquisition of land, construction, food, uniform etc, but let that process be transparent in providing equal opportunity and is within reasonable cost and , not overly inflated coz lots of undertable additional costssssss. This is what is happening in Malaysia today.
By the way, kalau PLKN wujud time kita, aku rasa kita takkan terpilih, sebab aku dengar PLKN selection is only for those from sekolah bukan berasrama penuh. I might be wrong here, so do correct me :D.

For our sharing, PLKN not necessarily for non-boarding school. One of my ex-student (SM Sains Selangor)was the either 1st or 2nd batch PLKN in UiTM Shah Alam. I went on last day of her training, it was huge crowd like graduation day or sth. From her respond, I knew that PLKN good to bridge the racial gap, but still I feel irritated when i saw some students behave like just graduated from "Puduraya Jail College". That was the last time the PLKN held in IPT..
Mak mertua aku was the HEP for UiTM Shah Alam dulu. She said after the PLKN, habis barang2 rosak/hilang, and macam lepas perang. They had to spend a lot to revive the condition of the hostels. Unfortunately PLKN failed to teach these kids to respect others/public properties. Sekarang ni kita cakap macam ni, tapi waktu kita muda2 dulu, isnt it a similar scenario when we were back in boarding school (maybe not as bad), bila time nak grad dulu, ada yg sampai pecah almari semua? I hope now that we've realized how wrong this is, we as parents can teach our children.
